Why Toy Story 4 is a Perfect Ending to an already Perfect Ending? (and why it gives Toy Story 5 no reason to Exist)

WARNING: SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN"T SEEN TOY STORY 4 A lot of people thought that Toy Story 3 was the perfect ending and yeah it was. However, when Toy Story 4 was announced, people where skeptical if it would be good and boy did it surprise everyone when it did. Toy Story 4 achieved the impossible by having a perfect ending to a perfect ending. It basically added to the ending of the 3rd one. But how did it do this?

First off, this movie showed us that the third one was the ending of Andy's story, while this one is Woody's. Having the movie close off Woody's story is integral because he's the heart of these movies, so without him, it makes the movie a perfect conclusion because Woody leaves and grows as a character. By having him and Andy leave, the cores of the franchise, it truly shows that the franchise is done. Which is why a Toy Story 5 is a bad idea cause without Woody and Andy, the franchise is done because there stories, the two hearts of the franchises, are gone.

Secondly, Woody goes through a character arc. It pays off an arc we never knew we needed to be payed off. It puts Woody's philosophies on his head. Woody was always a very loyal character, devoted to his kid. There where times where this was put to the test like in Toy Story 2 and 3. 2 because he thought of leaving his kid behind to go to the museum to help the Roundup Gang, but Buzz helped him realize that Andy still needed him. In Toy Story 3, this is flipped. Woody leaves the Toys to go to Andy, but then realizes at the end that Andy is growing up and stays with the toys. In 4, Woody has seen it all, he's been through it all. Bonnie doesn't play with him, and instead, he spends his time in the closet. However, Woody is still loyal to Bonnie even if she isn't playing with him. He's not really the leader anymore either. Then Forky comes a long and the cool thing about 4 is that it flips the first movie on its head, instead of Woody being jealous of Forky being the new faviorite, he tries and helps him because he sees this as the only thing he has left to do. Woody doesn't really have much of a purpose at Bonnie's and Forky starts to make him realize this a little bit. They end up at an antique store where Forky gets captured and Woody reunites with Bo who is very different from when we last saw her. We see throughout the movie she starts to show Woody that you don't need to have a kid to be happy and that change is good. Staying with Bonnie was not a great idea, if he just went back with Bonnie at the end, he would've just gone back to sitting in the closet. You can tell a chapter of Woody's life is done when he gives up his voice box. You can tell Woody is still loyal to his friends at the end, but Buzz wants this for him and tells him that the toys and Bonnie would be ok. He also gets to give other toys the gift he had with the other lost toys by giving them homes.

You could say that Andy giving Woody away to Bonnie lead to nothing, but he would still feel the way he felt with Andy. He just wouldn't do anything about it because he wouldn't have gone on that journey with Bo or Forky. Also it was Woody that decided to go with the toys. Andy needed to grow and change and so did Woody and if he didn't leave Andy, he wouldn't have. He wouldn't have learned that you don't have to be with a kid to be happy and that change is good. Yes, Andy would probably would be upset that Bonnie didn't keep Woody, but this doesn't have to do with him anymore. He moved on. It also makes sense why she isn't interested in Woody anymore, she likes Jessie better cause that's like a gorl version of Woody I guess lol.

In conclusion, Toy Story 4 wraps up the franchise perfectly by giving a perfect ending to an already perfect ending. Like I said before, it adds to the ending of Toy Story 3 so well. Pixar is the only studio that would've been able to pull this off and I'm glad they did. It honestly is a masterwork and is brilliant. However Pixar has not been that great lately. They lost a ton of money and they've been getting woke. Because they are losing money, they have a Toy Story 5 in the works which makes no sense. Pixar seemed pretty adamant that 4 was the last one and now all of a sudden, 5 is in the works? I literally just gave a whole analysis about how 4 was a perfect ending and honestly there's nothing else they can do. Hopefully they come to there senses and cancel it. There's so many other things they could do like shorts and specials. Why not more Forky asks a Question? Why not a movie about Woody's origin story? What about a Woody's Roundup movie? There's so many other things you can do! But nope, there doing Toy Story 5. But lets end on a happy note. Toy Story 4 really did achieve the impossible and had not just the characters grow, but the audience as well. Change is hard, but you have to move with it and move on to better things to grow and to be healthy. As Walt Disney would say, "We keep moving forward."
