Pencilish Animation: Changing the Animation Game

    
    


    For those of you who don't know, Pencilish Animation Studios. The first crowd funded animation studio which means it was invested in by fans like you and me! The CEO Tom Bancroft, was an animator that worked at Disney. Through my voice acting gig on the storyboard pilot, Redcapes, I've gotten to know a lot of the animators working there, including the creator of Redcapes, Madi Williams. The other animators I've gotten to know are Joel Guthrie, Grace Kwock, Audrey Witherspoon, Aurora Joy (she doesn't work at Pencilish but she is an animator), and Josie Clark. All incredibly talented, kind, and just all around outstanding people!!! They are making a couple of new shows. The one show they are making right now is called Bjorn the Last Unicorn which is about a unicorn who finds out about social media and decides to become a pet influencer like those pets you see on Instagram. The other shows they are working on sound amazing as well. Juju Brain is based on the true story of musician Julie Odnoralov, showing her life growing up in the 90's as a little girl with an active imagination dreaming off one day being a rock star. When she gets upset, she goes into her imaginary world called Juju Brain where she can do and be whatever she wants. Another show they are working on is called Mind Over Murphy which is about this Man named Murphy who's brain literally follows him around giving him terrible advice. Then there is War Pigs that we don't know to much about that one but we do know that its like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles except with Pigs in Medieval times. The last project is called Are Lucha, which is about a boy who enrolls in a wrestling school and now has to go up against the schools rival in a competition. All of these sound amazing and are in various stages of development. Bjorn the Last Unicorn is the first off these to come out and will be released on the Pencilish YouTube channel on April 8th.                 We now have are second Avatar Studios project announcement!!! After the very exciting announcement of the young adult team Avatar movie which is now confirmed for a October 10th 2025, we now have gotten an announcement for Avatars next show!!! The show will be about the next Avatar after Korra, who is an Earth avatar!!! The show will take place 100 years after Korra and will take place in modern day!!! Can you imagine an Avatar show, that takes place in modern day!?!?! With like newer looking cars and technology mixed with the classic Asian architecture and look that the series is known for!?!?! Underrated Animation: Looney Tunes: Back in Action: One of the best live action/animation hybrid movies ever

    Looney Tunes Back in Action is outstanding! It is  very underrated! It is a lot like Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Mary Poppins where it combines 2d hand drawn animation and live action. The movie combines everything I love about Looney Tunes and more with monsters, spy's, Steve Martin, Westerns, Adventure films, and everything else I love. The interactions between the animated characters and the human characters are amazing, very fun to look at, here is an example.      The animation is gorgeous, oh and also, IT IS HILARIOUS! I was dying of laughter! It gets the personalities of the looney tunes characters down. Tons of looney tunes and movie references that I love! Making fun of product placement! Animated Films with stylized animation (and how they did it)

 I got a ton of reviews for movies and shows that I wanna do but I feel like I've been doing a lot of reviews lately, so I'm gonna do this instead. It gives me a little else to talk about. Today I'm gonna talk about movies with animation that looks like nothing we've seen before and how they did it. I also put videos so you can see the process. Spider-Man into the Spiderverse Spider-Man into the Spiderverse is a groundbreaking film in many ways. But one reason is because of its incredible animation! How they made the computer animation look like a comic book is amazing! How they did it is they put a lot of 2-D lines on the characters face. Look closely on Miles' face, see how the wrinkles on his forehead look hand drawn. They also animated most of the movie on twos, which means that they are 12 frames of animation in one second instead of the 24 frames of animation in one second which is used in most animated films.
