Disney Hates Pixar
So I'm sure some of you noticed that Disney has been putting Pixar's films straight to Disney Plus with no extra cost right? This might seem all well and good but it definitely isn't.
The last three Pixar films, (Soul, Luca, and Turning Red) have all been released on Disney Plus for free. For Soul it made sense. People weren't comfortable to go to the theater quite yet. But for Luca and Turning Red? No! They came out at a time when people where starting to go back to theaters!
Another reason, Disney has been releasing there other films in theaters and on Disney Plus with premier access where you have to pay for them. I know the whole thing that there free is great, but other Disney movies that are being released on Disney Plus have premier access are also in theaters and at home, so those who don't feel comfortable to go to the theater can watch it at home while others could go to the theater if they feel comfortable. Why doesn't Disney do that with Pixar? Do there movies not matter? Does Disney not care?
Its weird, the now retired CEO of the Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger, said that buying Pixar was "the best acquisition he made." Wouldn't the new CEO, Bob Chapek, see this quote and be like "Well, we should probably care about Pixar." But there not. There not showing the same amount of attention to them as there other properties.
A lot of the Pixar employees are really mad about the release on Disney Plus. Here are a few quotes.
“‘Luca’ doesn’t even have a premium price next to it,” one staffer told Insider. “Does it make it lesser? It’s hard to grasp.”
“We don’t want to be a title just on Disney Plus,” another staffer who is working on several upcoming Pixar movies added. “These movies are crafted for the big screen. We want you to watch these movies with no distractions, no looking at your phones.”
“If these movies aren’t having $1 billion runs, does that hurt the company? You wonder that.”
“Everyone is worried about keeping their jobs if our films aren’t seen by Disney as financially successful.”
The Pixar films that did release on Disney Plus where hugely successful. That could be a reason why they put them on there, but don't you think it could have that same amount of success in theaters right now because people are starting to go back, and don't you think putting other Disney movies on there for free like Pixar would have the same amount off success Pixar is having on Disney Plus? Why just Pixar Disney? THE BEST COMPANY YOU OWN!
Pixar has literally made some of the best films ever made. They where meant to be released in theaters. Lightyear seems like a film Disney would have it stay in theaters because its intellectual property. That's great, but the original films they make that aren't sequels or spinoffs could be popular in theaters just like they where popular on Disney Plus! C'mon Disney!
